Pelotonia Training Update for June 2024

Despite a late start to my outdoor training program for the 2024 Pelotonia campaign (May 21), I am happy to report that things are going well in that area. Last year, I only did six training rides, totaling 173.66 miles prior to my ride in New Albany, and suffered as a result as I had problems with my calves cramping up less than 3 miles from the finish line. When I finally started my outdoor program this year, I made some changes that have made a difference so far. I decided to have two training rides per week leading up to August 4th. Combine that with dietary changes, an expanded training area, and increase confidence when riding on roads with traffic, I am feeling a lot better about how this year will play out.

As for my training this year, I have completed five training rides this month alone (thanks to a social media challenge I found on Facebook that benefitted the American Heart Association,) totaling 110.69 miles. Going back to May 21, 2024, I have completed nine training rides, totaling 164.89 miles traveled. I have one or two more training rides planned for this month, and will begin to increase my distance in July.
