What’s New For My Pelotonia Campaign This Year?

Now that I have officially rejoined the ‘Greatest Team Ever’ by registering for the 35 mile ride at the 2024 Pelotonia Ride Weekend, I feel like now would be a good time to fill everyone in on some of the changes that I have made this year. I spent the announcement post focused on training for this event, and this will focus on fundraising and the behind the scenes aspect of this event.

The first major change is that I have decided to run a virtual fundraiser over on Facebook concurrently with my main fundraising page. While I have done something similar in the past during the virtual campaigns (namely the three day challenges at the end of my previous campaigns.) This year will be the first one to run the duration of the entire campaign (exact end date TBD).

The second major change was to lean into my creative side in an effort to get more donations. I will be expanding on the print campaign that I did last year with the addition of postcards and flyers in addition to the link cards I created last year. In addition to that, I have retooled my social media campaign to include more graphics and video, while adopting the official color scheme for this year’s campaign. I will continue to make use of the official branding that was provided by the organization in my graphics and video.

Speaking of videos, the creation of the launch video for my campaign this year lead to the creation of a YouTube channel for this blog. I plan on adding more behind the scenes videos of my training rides and preparations for this year’s event on that channel. As for the launch video, I have created two versions of that video, the full length version (running 1:35) features call backs to my previous efforts with Pelotonia (complete with the use of color schemes of those years), and a short form video (running 0:25) with a similar look, but formatted to better suit Instagram and YouTube Shorts. I will be posting additional videos as this year’s campaign unfolds.

All of this was possible due to a decision that I made last year: I felt that I needed to a better job of leveraging the tools and assets at my disposal. I plan to post more behind the scenes content here on the blog (getting the new website address has helped in that regard.) The videos will eventually make their way over here at some point before the main event in August. The other main asset that I have been using is Adobe Express (it’s free to use, but I use the full version courtesy of a photography plan that I subscribe to from Adobe.) for my social media content and videos.

This is just the tip of the iceberg my friends, because as I am writing this post, I am constantly looking for ways to make this year’s Pelotonia campaign the best one yet. I still have a few changes to roll out over the next few weeks before I get back on my bike at the end of March/early April. The end goal of this is to be one step closer to #EndingCancer.
