A Fruit Smoothie Recipie

In a recent blog post, I went in to great detail about my struggles with weight. One of the things that I am doing to address this is by cutting out the junk food from my diet, and getting more fruits and veggies in my diet. One of the ways that I am accomplishing this is by drinking fruit smoothies. When I am at work, I usually buy one from either Bolthouse Farms or Naked Juice. Earlier this year, I bought a Ninja Fit single serve blender to make them at home. The basic recipie that I use is:

  • One cup (8 oz.) of juice or milk
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt (or one small container)
  • One cup of Frozen Fruit

Once I have all of the ingredients in the cup, I place it on the blender and blend for approx. 1 minute to get a smooth consistiency. In terms of what I use, it depends on what I have on hand at home. I usually use orange juice, raspberry limeade or cranberry juice as a base. I use greek yogurt or a small container of Activia yogurt for the yogurt part of the recipie. I have a family history of pineapple allergies so I have to be careful what fruit or fruit blend that I use. Normally, I would use a berry/cherry, strawberry/banana or a mixed fruit blend that does not have pineapple as an ingredient. I have to admit, the one fruit I have had success with is Mango.

This is what I would normally do for a fruit smootihe, If anyone has any suggestions on what other ingredients I should try, drop a comment on this blogs Facebook page, or drop a tweet @ccunningham37
